This Tuesday, the European pallet-pooling specialist LPR-La Palette Rouge (a Division of Euro Pool Group) formally opened its new automated sorting and renovation line at its Service Centre at Saint-Martin-de-Crau, not far from Marseille. The site has been operating since 2013 and is being modernised to meet the growing needs of its customers in Southern France.
On Tuesday 4 October , LPR-La Palette Rouge held a ceremony to inaugurate its new automated sorting and renovation line at its Service Centre located at Saint-Martin-de-Crau (Bouches-du-Rhône). The installation has been operating for six months and confirms the determination of the European pallet-pooling and management expert to meet the requirements of its customers, producers in the agri-food sector supplying the FMCG sector, and to propose the ideal service for their market. "In this way LPR is joining its customers in a general movement toward growing mechanisation, requiring the use of pallets of constantly higher quality. Automating our production line will also improve the working conditions of our operators while increasing the productivity of the sorting and renovation activities," explains Yves DEGOUVE, LPR's Regional Manager for Western Europe.
The introduction of this new line fits more generally in La Palette Rouge's plan to modernise its Service Centres, entitled "Strong 2016". LPR intends to extend this strategy throughout the Division, both in France and across Europe. "We need to be able to process the pallets in their entirety with precise specifications, and we must provide the necessary tools for this," adds Yves DEGOUVE. In the framework of "Strong 2016", which represents an investment of several million euros, La Palette Rouge has already equipped several of its sites, in particular in Belgium and Spain.
The Saint-Martin-de-Crau Service Centre, which is the third largest LPR site in France after Marolles-en-Hurepoix (Essonne) and Givors (Rhône-Alpes), covers 11,000 m2, has a permanent workforce of 40, and is managed by TSP (Toulouse Services Palettes). LPR deals with three million pallets a year at this Centre, and the new automated line will allow an increase of 20 to 25% in the volumes processed.
In 2017, the European expert intends to pursue the modernisation of its Grand-Fougeray site in Brittany, located halfway between Nantes and Rennes, and also to build a new Service Centre near Poitiers.
