LPR - La Palette Rouge (Euro Pool Group Division), the European pallet-pooling specialist, is establishing its position as a "best in class" supplier in terms of the quality of its products, processes and services. This is in keeping with its active commitment to a Social and Environmental Responsibility policy for over ten years.
With the renewal of the ISO 9001 certification of its five subsidiaries' (in Spain, Portugal, France, UK and Benelux) and its "gold advanced" status for the third year running, as certified by the CSR auditing platform Ecovadis, LPR is basing its development on certified quality management, to meet the needs of its ever-growing client base.
LPR applies this guiding principle when procuring its wood supply, which is PEFC-certified (Pan European Forest Certification), thus guaranteeing the certification of the entire supply chain. As Gaël Gonzalez, who works in Safety, Health, Environment and Quality (SHEQ) management at LPR, explains, "Seeing as our growth hasn't stopped for 25 years, we have had to buy several million new pallets per year. Their quality depends on that of the raw materials, which highlights the importance of good sourcing. Today, we are certified for the whole quality control process from the forest to the manufactured pallets".
It is important to note that LPR did not wait for the regulatory framework be imposed before investing in an eco-responsible approach: LPR has long been aware of the important of corporate social responsibility in the market, having been in the logistics sector for a long time, with an economic model based on the circular economy for over 25 years. This model has been reinforced by voluntary actions which are characterised by the Ecovadis certification.
Objectives for 2025
The company has also defined clear objectives for 2025. These include a 20% reduction of CO2 emissions for the entire Euro Pool Group. "We have several hundred lorries travelling daily to deliver and collect the 20 million pallets in our pool. We rely on state-of-the-art computer systems to study all the possibilities for optimising this transportation. Real issues for the future include making the most of vehicles that are returning empty, thinking about multimodal transport options, replacing some lorries with trains and investigating the potential of hybrid and electric lorries", explains Gaël Gonzalez.
LPR also intends to reach a goal of 100% certified wood to rebalance a part of its carbon footprint through reforestation projects. "In Europe, the demand for wood is growing and is at risk of eventually exceeding the available supply. This is why we wish to invest in reforestation or forest extension projects. We would thus regenerate the ecosystems on which we directly depend and which are essential for our activity", continues Gaël Gonzalez.
Finally, aside from this "best in class" product and process, LPR's quality can especially be seen in its service: while the season is full swing, LPR ensures delivery to all its customers, in time and in quality of all types of pallets and, in particular, the highly coveted DUSSELDORFER (although it is important to note its shortage among other suppliers). Anticipating and planning are fundamental in the pallets rental industry, as well as ensuring that procurement is done through carefully selected suppliers on a scale that meets the needs of our growing market.
