R&D and innovation in pallet pooling and supply chain management

Cost-savings, efficiencies and sustainability are hot topics in pallet pooling. Innovation is key to continuous improvement in these three pillars. As a pallet pooling service provider in the FMCG and retail sectors, LPR invests a lot of time and effort into research and development (R&D). Not without reason: we want to maintain our position as the knowledge partner on circular pallet pooling.

R&D for innovation and efficiency in logistics and the supply chain

LPR's red wooden pallets were a game-changer in the FMCG and Retail sectors. Wooden, reusable pallets have been the status quo for a lot of companies ever since. However, our drive to evolve and increase efficiency has encouraged us to keep innovating. Innovation is not just top-down decision making; it can be accomplished on many levels. For instance, process optimisation and automation, product improvement and digitalisation. Every employee at LPR is encouraged to share their innovative ideas.

Sustainability, driven by innovation, research and development

Innovation pushes efficiency to its limits and simultaneously fuels sustainability. Pallet pooling essentially is a circular system. Despite this, we are constantly looking for ways to reduce our impact on the environment further. These are a few of our most recent initiatives:

  • We continuously test and retrieve data to optimise the repair process.
  • We introduced a service to optimise transport - using the same carrier for inbound and outbound shipments from factories.
