One of the many projects we’ve been working on (as part of our continuous improvement plans) has been a Track & Trace system.
Given the need to keep optimising and utilising Big Data, we wanted to be able to offer a solution which helps us give our customers the best possible service - by providing reliable real-time information for processing and tracking deliveries.
Our new Transport Management System (TMS) - is an ambitious, innovative project for monitoring our transport operations (both collections and deliveries) in real time, and we’ve selected the Shippeo platform to ensure its success!
We are delighted to be able to confirm that, as of the beginning of November, our German carrier Kottmeyer will pilot the Shippeo management tool, allowing us to "Track & Trace" across the European Supply Chain.
This is a significant step forward in supply chain management. It allows us to optimise our customers' logistics processes, saves them time and increases their operational excellence. Shippeo uses a number of systems to collect real-time information (including GPS positioning, status and quantity).
The ability for our customers to be able to anticipate the arrival time of a pallet delivery allows them to optimise their own deliveries. With a partner like Shippeo, we provide our customers with the information they need to improve their own delivery and collection performance
This is the latest development of LPR’s SAP TM system. The system has been developed to further improve the efficiency of transport planning, and to improve communication with carriers – enabling optimisation and flow management by calculating and organising each pallet movement.
The support team for this project is constantly working on further optimisation projects – including, reducing empty transport kilometres, pooling transport resources, studying the potential of hybrid or electric trucks, and using multimodal transport (including rail) whenever possible.
This strategic transport planning forms part of our CSR ambitions to reduce our carbon footprint by 20% per pallet rotation by 2025.
