LPR Spain strengthens its leadership in sustainability with two Lean & Green stars

Madrid, October 13, 2025 – LPR Spain, a leading business in the sustainable management of returnable packaging, has been awarded two Lean & Green stars, a recognition that endorses its commitment and achievements in reducing CO₂ emissions within its logistics operations.

The Lean & Green Programme is Europe’s largest collaborative platform for the decarbonisation of the supply chain. It recognises companies that implement measurable and verifiable action plans to reduce their carbon footprint, aiming to achieve net-zero emissions by 2050, in line with the commitments of the Paris Climate Summit (COP21).

During the period 2020-2024, LPR Spain achieved a 30% reduction in CO₂ emissions, thanks to a comprehensive strategy based on operational efficiency, innovation, and collaboration. It achieved this by optimising its logistics flows, collaborating with customers to create transport mile savings and by utilising early forecast modelling. It has also increased its use of alternative fuels, such as HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil) and electric trucks, in close collaboration with its transport partners.

LPR has also strengthened its national network of service centres, with a total of 38 now. Each service centre has been selected strategically, to ensure that it is near to its local customer base and to ensure pallet availability. This approach, combined with cooperation with the retail sector to improve asset recovery, has enabled further progress toward an ever increasingly circular and sustainable model.

Javier Domínguez, Managing Director of LPR for Southern Europe, stated:
“This recognition reflects LPR’s genuine commitment to a more efficient, collaborative, and environmentally friendly logistics model. We are not only reducing our emissions but also contributing to a more sustainable supply chain across Europe.”

Maritza Sánchez, Sustainability and Quality Director at LPR Spain, added:
“The two Lean & Green stars are the result of a collective effort. Thanks to coordinated work with our customers and suppliers we have managed to reduce our carbon footprint and improve the efficiency of the entire value chain. We will continue moving forward toward our shared goal of achieving net-zero emissions by 2050.
