We are seeking an ambitious and results-driven Business Development Manager to lead commercial growth across the South Region of the UK. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing strategic customer relationships, and driving revenue growth in line with company objectives.
This role plays a crucial part in expanding our market presence, strengthening customer partnerships, and delivering sustainable business growth. Working closely with internal teams, customers, depot operators, and key stakeholders, you will identify opportunities, develop commercial solutions, and support the achievement of regional and national sales targets.
Key Responsibilities
Business Development & Growth
- Identify and secure new customers across the South Region to drive pallet pooling growth.
- Build and manage a strong sales pipeline from lead generation through to contract award.
- Develop and present tailored commercial proposals aligned with customer requirements and business objectives.
- Monitor market trends, customer needs, and competitor activity to identify opportunities.
- Maintain accurate sales reporting, pipeline updates, and KPI tracking.
Brand Development & Market Presence
- Build and maintain a strong network of industry contacts and prospective customers.
- Represent LPR at industry events, exhibitions, and networking activities.
- Support marketing initiatives that increase brand awareness and generate new business opportunities.
Sales Performance & Commercial Delivery
- Achieve agreed sales, volume, revenue, and profitability targets.
- Monitor and report on key sales KPIs, including growth, conversion, and customer retention.
- Support accurate forecasting and ensure pricing aligns with company guidelines.
Contract Management & Customer Onboarding
- Negotiate contracts and tenders in line with commercial, legal, and operational requirements.
- Ensure the successful implementation and onboarding of new customers.
- Work with customers and internal teams to ensure contracts are delivered effectively from launch.
- Maintain accurate customer and contract records within CRM systems.
Collaboration & Internal Alignment
- Work closely with Operations, Customer Service, Asset Management, and Finance to deliver an excellent customer experience.
- Coordinate the seamless handover of new business to operational teams.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and share best practice across the business.
- Ensure alignment between commercial commitments and operational capability

We are looking for someone who is:
- A motivated self-starter with a proven ability to identify and convert new business opportunities.
- An excellent communicator, capable of building strong relationships with customers and key stakeholders.

- Commercially focused, with the ability to balance growth opportunities and business profitability.

- Comfortable working in a field-based role with regular travel across the South Region.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum of 3 years' experience in Business Development, Sales, Account Management, or a similar commercial role.
- Proven track record of delivering sales growth and securing new business opportunities.
- Strong commercial awareness and negotiation skills.
- Experience using Microsoft Office 365 and CRM systems.
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel regularly.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and relationship management skills.
Desirable
- Experience within logistics, supply chain, transport, pallet pooling, packaging, or a related industry.
- Degree, apprenticeship, or vocational qualification in Business, Sales, Marketing, Logistics, or a related discipline.
- Experience managing tender processes and commercial contract negotiations.
- Knowledge of supply chain and operational processes.
Working Pattern & Travel
This is a field-based role requiring regular travel across the South Region of the UK. A dedicated geographical territory will be assigned, with occasional travel to other regions for customer meetings, company events, training, and team collaboration.
Overnight stays may occasionally be required to support business development activities and customer engagement.
